9:21 pm - Dollhouse
|
So I've been watching the final season of Dollhouse,or the second half of the first season depending on how you look at it, and I have to say that I'm liking the ending its heading to. I won't say I'm crushed to see it go as I think the overall concept was not one of my favorites, but if you took out the bits with the "Engagements" the show was fairly good. But as the series is winding to a close its been getting better and better. Oddly, or maybe not so odd, but I liked pretty much all of the supporting characters more than I liked the main character. As typical of Whedon its developing a lot of twists and turns and some really excellent one-liners. In fact the shows best one liner was in the second part of tonight's show. One of the characters is trapped in her own head reliving a nightmare over and over where the dead corpse of a serial rapist she'd killed gets back up and comes after her with a knife saying, "Well here's a scenario I hadn't thought of..." and then the line "Rigor Mortis, its the new Viagra" it was so quick and so deadpan and so very funny I was laughing my ass off...8)

6:39 pm - Getting Schooled...
|
...got Registered today at ACC for a semester of Spanish I. Starting over again, whee... I haven't paid for it yet as I'm still trying to get work and as the only slot really available for me was 7:30am Id hate to get a job that I couldn't work normal hours for or for a job in San Antonio which would make commuting up for class 3 days a week stupidly expensive...8P But, at least I'm registered...go me!

That would actually be cool and make a lot of sense.
For those of you who haven't read the series I highly recommend it. Napoleonic-Era swashbuckling, ship battles and dragon-mounted aerial combat! Whats more interesting are the variety of dragons, from small and fast one-man messengers to Dragons the size of houses that serve as essentially bombers/troop transports. I've enjoyed the series very much. It would make a great big-budget mini-series, or series with a very defined number of seasons as was done with Babylon Five.

11:42 am - Business cards..
|
So I'm working up a business card to take with me to this Networking thingus later on tonight, I've got all the basic Information but I have no Title, Business or Business Message to put on the card as I'm Unemployed. So I'm tempted to put the following;
title: World Domination Engineer company: The Hecatonchires Group (tm)& (c) message: Supremacy in World Domination Engineering
I amuse so easily...8)
fyi "The Hecatonchires Group" and "The Hecatonchires Society" are both (tm) and (c) by me.

Though this come to an idea that I think the US should have...though maybe without letting people keep the guns in their homes (Maybe phase it in over time); Mandatory Military service for all men, an optional for wom though strongly reccomended. I think part of the idea is that if a majority of the population knows how to defend themselves and often armed then criminals are much less likely to want to break into homes and run the high risk of getting shot. Heck, if it works for the Swiss! I know Thailand and a few other nations have a similar practice though I don't know what their crime rate is like.
